Scope of Support
  • Partial copayment support for outpatient newborn hearing screening tests
  • Support only for test fees, consultation fees (doctor's fees) are excluded
  • Support for up to 2 tests
    (In case of retesting following the first test)
  • If you receive a confirmation test for hearing loss after receiving a referral decision as a result of the hearing loss screening test
  • Support provided for the copayment of hearing loss diagnostic tests, regardless of confirmation test results; consultation fees not supported
  • Maximum support limit of 70,000 KRW
Important Notes

Support only for tests conducted within 28 days of birth
* Even after 28 days, if it is covered by national health insurance, support is available for screening tests

Supported Tests: AAOE (Automated Otoacoustic Emissions), AABR (Automated Auditory Brainstem Response)

Support regardless of results for detailed examinations following a retest decision in screening tests
The inclusion of ABR (Auditory Brainstem Response) test or ASSR (Auditory Steady-State Response) test is mandatory for approval.

강조Hearing Aid Support for Hearing-Impaired Children based on Previous Month's National Health Insurance Copayment as of the Application Date

Eligibility

  • Hearing-impaired infants under the age of 3 years (under 36 months) from households with a median income below 180%. Unconditional support for households with more than two children, regardless of income level
  • Those with bilateral hearing loss, and whose better-hearing ear's average threshold does not qualify for a hearing disability rating within the 40-59 dB range (excluding those who have received a disability grade)

Support Details

  • One hearing aid per infant (up to a limit of 1,310,000 KRW)
  • At least two Auditory Brainstem Response tests (ABR) or Auditory Steady-State Response tests (ASSR) must be conducted at tertiary-level hospitals, with a minimum interval of one month between them (ABR must be included)
  • Approval only for cases where the difference between the best and most recent test results in the better-hearing ear is within 10 dB
  • The average threshold of the better result among the two tests will be used as the standard
  • Hearing aids should be purchased, fitted, and checked at the prescribing hospital (exceptions must be noted in the inspection confirmation section)
  • Inspection confirmation will be issued at least one month after the purchase date and upon verification of improved hearing while wearing the aid
  • Support is available for hearing aids purchased within six months before or after the health center application date

Required Documents

  • Mother's identification card
  • Hearing aid application form (to be completed upon visiting the public health center)
  • One copy each of the infant's hearing aid prescription, hearing test results, and hospital medical records
  • Copy of bankbook
  • Additional documents: Leave of absence certificate (if less than one month, provide national health insurance contribution just before the leave; For paid leave of one month or longer, provide salary statement).
