Fertility Treatment Cost Support

Eligibility

  • Applicants who submit an Infertility Diagnosis Certificate from a physician requiring infertility treatment

  • Both partners must be in a legally recognized marriage or have maintained a de facto marital relationship for at least a year as confirmed by the local health center (based on the date of each application round)
  • At least one of the partners should be a Korean citizen registered as a resident, and both should be enrolled in national health insurance and have confirmed insurance contribution payments

Scope of Support

For treatments covered by health insurance: A portion of the treatment cost and 90% of the total out-of-pocket expenses, including three types of non-covered items (embryo freezing fees, miscarriage prevention drugs, and implantation inducers), within the support limit

For treatments exceeding the number of times covered by health insurance: Support within the limit for out-of-pocket expenses of the treatment cost (out-of-pocket expenses for non-covered items, three types of non-covered items, and other out-of-pocket expenses)

* Verification Process: Visit the National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) (website (nhis.or.kr) → Go to Customer Service → Individual Inquiries → Insurance Benefits → Remaining Fertility Treatment Eligibility Count → Verify by authenticating yourself and registering spouse's personal information

  • One copy of fertility treatment support application form (Available at Maternal Section, 3rd floor, Guro Public Health Center)

  • One copy of fertility diagnostic report (issued by a government-designated fertility treatment facility) - Valid for 6 months from the date of issue.

    강조For couples in a de facto marriage, application without an infertility diagnosis certificate is possible. (however, support for treatment costs is unavailable until the certificate is submitted to the Public Health Center. The diagnosis can either be directly submitted by the procedure candidate or attached to the bill when requesting the procedure cost from the medical institution.)

  • One copy of national health insurance card (Submission can be omitted if agreed to verify through administrative information sharing)
  • One copy of national health insurance payment confirmation (Submission can be omitted if agreed to verify through administrative information sharing)

    강조Include only direct family members on the Resident Registration. For couples living in separate residences or multi-cultural families, a Family Relation Certificate must be submitted with each application.

  • One copy of an official document proving a common-law relationship for more than one year (If none, submit a common-law marriage certificate and a copy of the guarantor's ID; the Guarantor must be a Korean adult).
  • A copy of the Certificate of Alien Registration or Certificate of Domestic Residence Report that can prove the stay for more than 1 year as of the date of application (limited to cases where the person concerned is a foreigner; if the applicant wants to provide additional proof of stay for more than 1 year in addition to the above documents, add an immigration record) Can be submitted. )

Important Notes

  • The validity of the approval notice is three months (Treatment must start within three months; a new approval notice must be reissued after expiration, requiring re-submission of all documents).
  • Support is only provided for treatment costs incurred up until the end of the procedure when pregnancy is confirmed. Retroactive support for treatment costs before the issuance of the approval notice is strictly not allowed.
    * If the procedure begins on a public holiday (including Saturdays), support for treatment costs will only be recognized if the approval notice is received by the next day.
  • Eligibility Criteria (Based on insurance contributions): At least one spouse must be a South Korean citizen (except those who have canceled their residence registration). If one spouse is a foreign citizen, both must be insured under the national health insurance scheme. If eligibility is suspended (e.g., for studying abroad), eligibility must be restored based on the notified insurance contribution.
  • Note: An approval notice from the public health center must be issued and submitted to the hospital before the procedure starts.
  • Remarried individuals are not eligible for support
