What is the Nutrition
Plus program?

A program that offers nutrition education for those with weak nutrition in order to improve their nutritional consumption conditions, and provides supplementary foods for a specified period of time to resolve issues of nutritional risks

Qualifications

  • Criteria of classification of subjects
    • Infant (birth to 12 months)
    • Toddler (6 years of age (72 months) or younger)
    • Pregnant women
  • Lactating women
  • Criteria for residence: Residing in the area in the jurisdiction of the public health center
  • Income level: 80% of the standard median income or below by size of household
  • Factors of nutritional risk: Possession of more than one factor of nutritional risk, including anemia, underweight, lack of growth, and poor conditions of nutrition consumption

Nutrition education

  • To be conducted once a month in principle
  • To be conducted in the form of group education, counseling, home visits, etc.

Supplementary foods

  • Supplied to help supplement nutrients that can easily become deficient from ordinary meals
  • Prescribes one of 6 packages depending on the subject and their characteristics
  • Depending on the prescribed package by subject, foods are supplied such as rice, potatoes, eggs, milk, black beans, laver, seaweed, carrots, canned tuna, tangerine juice, orange juice, etc.
  • Supplementary foods are delivered to homes
